Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Independent Advocacy Perth & Kinross support people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who may benefit from individual support to promote their understanding of their situation and choices.
An independent advocate can support a person to express their views and participate as much as is possible in discussions and decision making. This can enable someone to become more independent as often it is family/carers who will support them to be included. As an independent advocate, we can support a person while remaining free from any conflicts of interest.
We can help people to understand the information that is given to them and then support them to put forward the points that they wish to make. We help people to communicate in the way that is best for them including easy read information, pictorials or Makaton.
We can:
- Support you to navigate transitions, for example into adult services
- Support you to explore your options, for example care and support, housing, work.
- Provide you with information regarding your rights
- Provide you with information about other services
- Prepare for and attend meetings with you or for you
