How can we help?

IAPK provides independent advocacy for people who are affected by alcohol and substance dependency with a rights based approach to improve access to local supports, navigate systems such as child protection and maximise their personal resources and power.

We can:

  • Help you to prepare for meetings – what you want to say
  • Attend meetings  with you or for you
  • Provide you with information to enable you to make informed decisions
  • Help you look at and consider your options
  • Help you to access a solicitor

We will:

  • Support you in expressing your views, and represent your views if necessary
  • Respect your individuality and your right to be socially included

We will not:

  • Judge what you say, think or feel
  • Tell you what you should do
  • Encourage you to make a particular decision
