We are excited to announce that Independent Advocacy Perth & Kinross has been awarded £65,619 from the National Lottery toward the New Scot Collective Advocacy Project!
This group brings together asylum seekers & refugees in Perth & Kinross to discuss what matters to them. Coming together in this way makes each voice stronger. By empowering connection with each other and creating sustainable mental health support, this platform allows the local community, services, legislators and policy makers to actively engage with the lived experience of group members; past, present and future.
The achievements of this project have been labelled as “pioneering” by the Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance, and became the first feature in their new Spotlight Article.
This funding will allow the project to go even further, training and supporting group members to advocate for each other as Peer Advocates.
We are delighted that this work will continue with the support of our dynamic New Scots Co-ordinator and IAPK team. We would also like to thank all who have attended the group as either a volunteer or participant for their vital involvement in this work.
